    The petition explains that Hugh Adams' will in Rockbridge Co. bequeathed freedom to his slaves, but only if they emigrated to Liberia. Otherwise, they were to remain as slaves. Johnston is petitioning to be able to pick his new master because he does not want to go to Liberia.
